The Big Sew Off 2022

The Big Sew Off 2022

Join us for The Big Sew Off to raise money for mental health charity Mind. The last couple of years have been really tough on everyone’s mental health, and sewing has been a big help in getting through the pandemic for many. We are excited to put our sewing skills to good use for a great cause and we really hope you’ll join us!

When and where:
We’ve organised a 24-hour sewathon (sewing marathon) from 10am on Thursday 12th May until 10am on Friday 13th May (UK times). Lisa and the SOI team will be sewing from The Big Sew Off London hub along with other sewing businesses and personalities including By Hand London and Great British Sewing Bee alumnus Rumana (@thelittlepomegranate). There will also be a hub at Birmingham-based sewing shop Guthrie & Ghani and a Glasgow hub made up of some familiar Scottish bees. You can virtually join the event from anywhere in the world as we'll be sharing every stitch online across our platforms.

How to get involved:
> You can start donating to our justgiving page straight away and throughout the 12th May to keep us sewing. Lisa is going to do the full 24 hours and your donations will really help to keep her going!

> Join the sewathon from your home. Sew whatever you want and don't worry, you don't have to do the full 24 hours, do as long as you can. There will be a live feed to the London hub on our YouTube channel so we can keep you company whenever you decide to join in the sewing. There will also be lots of fun content on the Sew Over It Instagram account as well as @thebigsewoff, so make sure you're following both. Raise some precious funds (no amount is too little!) by selling what you make on the day to family/friends/neighbours/colleagues, or asking them to sponsor you for some intense sewing. Send all your proceeds in via our justgiving page so it all goes in the same big pot for The Big Sew Off donation to Mind.

> Bid on The Big Sew Off makes: we'll be auctioning off what we sew on the day on eBay. We're planning to sew some beautiful garments in a variety of sizes, so keep an eye on the live YouTube feed and our social channels to spot whenever something is finished and up for auction.
