The 1940’s Tea Dress is a beautiful vintage-inspired dress that can be made for everyday or dressed up for an occasion.

Inspired by Lisa’s love of 40’s fashion, the dress features a gathered bust detail, a panelled midriff and skirt, flattering elbow length sleeves and lovely contrast cuffs. We love to add three decorative buttons down the centre front for a lovely extra bit of interest.

Sewing Level

The 1940’s Tea Dress sewing pattern is aimed at Intermediates.

Fabric Suggestions

The 1940’s Tea Dress works best in lightweight fabrics with lots of drape. Think rayon challis, viscose, georgette, silk and satin. We recommend avoiding anything too crisp, such as cotton, as it doesn’t have the required drape.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm. Never used a PDF pattern before and would like some help? Learn everything you need to know in our handy Guide to Assembling PDF Patterns over on our blog!

Is this sewing pattern layered?

This pattern is not currently layered but we are actively working through our full catalogue of patterns to get them layered. If you would like to get this one bumped up the list send us an email to info@sewoverit.com

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
