The Grocery Bag features two sets of straps, for ease of carrying, and is filled with useful pockets on the inside to keep your groceries from falling on top of each other. Keep your eggs from being squished by your milk, or your garlic bread from being flattened by your wine!

You can keep your Grocery Bag soft, or opt to add in a base insert to give you a solid foundation.

This bag is a really satisfying make. Take your time with the sewing and pressing to create a sturdy bag you’ll use all the time. Perfect to take down to the supermarket, the Grocery Bag also makes a for a great knitting project bag, a picnic bag and even a beach bag if you make it in a waterproof fabric. Sew it for yourself or as a super useful gift for friends and family!

The Grocery Bag sewing pattern is aimed at Confident Beginners.

Fabric Suggestions

Medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton and canvas.

Fabric requirements
1.5m of 140cm wide fabric

When finished, the base of the Grocery Bag is 20x40cm, and it is 30cm tall.

Optional: Decovil Light Interfacing (for base insert): 20x40cm

The Grocery Bag sewing pattern is 32 A4 paper pages, 36 US letter pages or two A0 pages.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
