Another great project for beginners or for those wanting a quick satisfying make – Lisa sewed hers up in an hour in her Lunchtime Make on Instagram – you can watch along here!

This headscarf has a simple construction, a wide panel across the head, long ties for beautiful detail and a hidden covered elastic section to keep the headscarf fitting snugly whilst you’re wearing it.

Sewing Level

The Headscarf is an Absolute Beginner sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions

Light to medium weight drapey woven fabrics such as viscose and crepe.

You will need:

  • 45cm long x 100cm wide fabric. We recommend drapey fabrics such as crepe or viscose – cotton lawn will also work but the ties will be a bit crisper.
  • 10cm of 6mm wide elastic.

What will I receive?

The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • printable pattern (in tiled print-at-home format)
  • printable illustrated instruction booklet

The Headscarf pattern is 7 A4 and 8 US letter pages or 1 A1 page.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
