Fabric recommendations
For the Weekend Bag, we recommend using a medium to heavy weight woven fabric such as cotton or canvas, and a light to medium weight woven fabric such as quilting cotton for the lining. You will need a 1m long x 140cm piece of each.
You will also need 1m long x 140cm of a light to medium weight woven fabric such as quilting cotton for the lining, a 55cm closed end zip, 3.5m of 2.5cm wide webbing for the straps, and 4 x 2.5cm rectangle D-ring. We’ve put everything you’ll need together in a handy hardware kit, click here to add it to your basket.
You may also like to use a heavy weight interfacing or backing for the main bag panels and pocket (optional).
The downloadable pattern file contains:
- printable pattern (in tiled print-at-home format)
- printable illustrated instruction booklet
The Weekend Bag pattern is 14 A4 sheets, 15 US letter pages and 1 A0 sheet.
So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
