United States
As you will be aware, there are many changes happening to the process of shipping into the United States, based on changing tariffs and new rules that we have to abide by to get your orders to you. Things are changing rapidly however this is the situation we are currently working with, as of 1st September 2025:
- From 29th August 2025, any goods entering the US from the UK will be subject to a tariff based on the product type, and the country of origin.
- The duties that need to be paid are dependent on what goods have specifically been ordered. For example a fabric may be subject to a duty of between 8-15%, whereas sewing patterns currently have a duty value of 0%, if they have been manufactured in the UK.
- Due to this range in duty values, and the range of products that we offer, we have decided that we will not be shipping fabrics, kits, etc to the US for the time being. Sewing patterns in all forms are still available to be shipped to the US, and of course digital products are still readily available.
- All tariffs & duties must be paid at the time of placing an order, the US will not accept any post where the tariffs have not been pre-paid.
- We have started shipping to the US again, and any duties to be paid are included within the shipping cost at the checkout.
- Please be aware that we as a company have no control over these extra tariffs and duties. We will not be shipping orders to the US where these extra costs have not been paid.
Canada
Canada Post have informed us that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have now moved from a full national strike to rotating strikes from October 11th 2025.
Customers can still place orders on our website and orders will be dispatched, but please be aware that there will be delays in shipping the items due to the rotating strikes. PDF patterns and other digital orders are unaffected.
EU
As the UK is no longer a part of the EU, all orders sent from the UK to a country in the EU may be subject to customs charges. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a hard rule for what orders receive a charge and what orders do not.
Sew Over It are not responsible for any customs charges, and have no control over them. We will provide all information needed for your order to travel to your country, including customs codes that have been checked to ensure they are correct.
We strongly recommend checking with your local government documentation about customs charges for goods entering from the UK so you are aware of any potential charges.
