Everyone needs a pleated skirt in their wardrobe, and the Lizzie Skirt ticks all the right boxes.

Featuring pleats, in-seam pockets, a full lining, a waistband and a concealed/invisible zip, there is tonnes to learn for beginners with this pattern, whereas more advanced sewists will enjoy a fun, quick sew. Lizzie makes a brilliant afternoon project.

Lisa’s favourite shape, the Lizzie Skirt is 1950s-inspired in style, with a trademark cinched-in waist. The pleats are carefully concentrated at the front and back of the skirt for gorgeous fullness, while the side seams are left pleat-free for a flattering, hip-skimming effect. It is a classic knee-length, but thanks to its straight hem, can be easily lengthened or shortened to suit you.

With lots of fabric options, Lizzie is incredibly versatile and makes a wonderful pattern to see you through all seasons. Make her in a lovely crisp cotton lawn for summer, or a lightweight wool for a warm winter skirt.

Dress Lizzie up or down depending on your fabric choice. A pretty printed cotton will be your go-to for summer days out, or choose a fancy brocade for a special evening co-ord outfit!

Fabric Suggestions
There is plenty of scope with Lizzie when it comes to fabric choices. For beginners, we recommend a light to medium weight stable woven fabric such as cotton poplin, lawn or broderie anglaise. Intermediate and advanced sewers could try a jacquard, lightweight wool, suiting, or something with more drape such as a medium weight crepe. For the lining we recommend a cotton lawn for Summer, or satin or acetate lining fabric if you want to wear tights with your skirt.

Fabric Requirements
The Lizzie Skirt sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 8-20. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

What will I receive?

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
