Sew a classic denim skirt with the Xanthe Skirt PDF Pattern!

The Xanthe Skirt is a woven fitted skirt with all the characteristics of a classic denim skirt, plus some extra Sew Over It touches.

Featuring a zip fly, waistband, belt loops and a shaped back yoke, Xanthe is fitted at the waist and hips, with a straight fit on the legs. Choose between two lengths: mini or midi with a stylish front slit for ease of movement.

Xanthe includes patch pockets on the back and cool in-set pockets at the front with an ingenious construction that technical sewists will love!

Designed with denim in mind, the instructions will guide you through all the steps for sewing with contrast topstitching, but you can also topstitch using regular thread for a more subtle look. The pattern is suitable for mediumweight woven fabrics such as denim, corduroy, canvas or twill, and we think faux leather would look amazing too.

She’s ideal for spring, but the Xanthe Skirt can work all year round: pair her with t-shirts, jumpers or your favourite blouse. This skirt will fit right into your wardrobe!

Fabric Suggestions

Medium weight woven fabrics such as non-stretch denim, corduroy and twill. You can use stretch denim/corduroy, but it will require more fitting/you may need to go down a size.

The Xanthe Skirt pattern is either 24 A4/US letter pages or 1 A0 page (sizes 6-20), or 28 A4/US letter pages, or 2 A0 pages (size 18-30).

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
