Wellbeing & mental health

Any hobby that gives your brain a break from the outside world is overwhelmingly good for your mental health and overall wellbeing. The mix of creative and practical skills used in sewing provides respite for your mind whilst you're also creating something you'll cherish.

We all know that re-using what we already own is a key part of being sustainable. Sewing will give you the skills and the confidence to not only mend your own clothes, but to personalise them too - adding details to make you love them for that little bit longer.

Nothing beats being able to answer the question 'where did you get that?', with 'oh, I made it!'. Learning a new skill always brings with it new levels of confidence, however sewing can also contribute to increased body confidence; learning how to fit clothes perfectly to your body, develop your own personal style and no longer be limited to what's available on the high street.

At Sew Over It, we're passionate about teaching people to sew, and ensuring that sewing becomes a way of life. We offer sewing lessons, both online and in person, catering for everything from absolute beginners to those looking for help with more advanced projects.

We're experienced at running workplace events, promoting all the benefits of sewing to your team whilst providing a skill building and relaxing class environment.

We also have a range of over 200 sewing patterns. With a range of styles and patterns for all abilities there's always going to be something to suit your skill level and your wardrobe.

I have recently used stitch school as I was sewing a dress and wanted to do french seams. I have never done these seams before and loved that when I searched stitch school I found that they had not only covered how to stitch a french seam but also pockets and armholes. The videos are very clear and I now have a lovely dress fully french seamed.

Pattern looks lovely, just as expected. Beautifully packaged in a sturdy reusable brown card envelope with a flap and fastener to make it easy to store the pattern between uses. I haven't actually made up the shirt yet, though I'm sure it will be lovely when I do.

I have not started my sewing of Lori Dress as yet, I'm waiting until I find the right material. Have looked at the paper pattern and worksheet and they all look so easy to follow and work my way to the end and have a perfect outfit.

Have not made up yet but the service is easy to use and saves gluing myself. Quality paper and can use time after time if required. I normally trace off my size if making changes. I also like the fact I can d the instructions separately. Or watch on iPad.
