The Florence Dress is a floaty, feminine, boho-inspired dress with a nod to the 1970s.

The pattern features a button-up bodice with a pretty mandarin collar, 3/4 length set-in sleeves, and an easy-fit elasticated waist. Pick between two lengths for the A-line skirt: knee-length or maxi for an effortless swishy dress.

Designed to be sewn in lightweight woven fabrics, Florence is a year-round wardrobe staple. Choose fabrics with good drape, such as crepe or viscose and go all out with chiffon or georgette for a sheer dress to wear over a slip.

Sewing Level
The Florence Dress is an Intermediate sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions
For Florence you’ll need to use a lightweight woven fabric with lots of drape. We recommend rayon, lightweight crepes, peachskin, chiffon, georgette and silks such as crepe de chine. With minimal interruptions on the bodice and skirt, there’s lots of scope to make a statement with a bold print.

Fabric Requirements
The Florence Dress PDF sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 8-20. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

What will I receive?
The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • printable pattern (in both tiled print-at-home and copyshop format)
  • fully-photographed printable instruction booklet
  • copyshop permissions letter

The Florence Dress pattern is either 32 A4/US letter pages, or 2 A0 copyshop pages.

If you purchase the PDF Pattern + Copyshop Printing option, you will also receive your pattern printed on A0 paper in the post. Find out more about our PDF Printing Service here.

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
