Sew the perfect summer shorts with the Keira Shorts PDF sewing pattern!

Practical and stylish, the Keira Shorts will be your go-to for summer. They feature a zip fly, pleats at the front and darts at the back, roomy slanted pockets, shaped belt loops finished with a button detail and turn-ups at the hem. The waistband closes with a hook and eye and it’s partially elasticated to make the Keira Shorts more comfortable and easier to fit.

Depending on what you pair them with, these shorts can look super contemporary or slightly vintage. Wear them with a cami or a t-shirt for a great everyday summer outfit, or tuck in a Lilian Blouse for that land girl look!

Make your Keira Shorts in a fabric with some structure like denim, cotton twill or canvas to accentuate the shape, or sew them in linen, chambray or a viscose linen for a softer look. Choose a solid colour to pair them with all your patterned summer tops, or make a fun holiday pair in a cotton print!

Fabric Suggestions

For Keira we recommend medium weight woven fabrics, such as denim, corduroy, linen & cotton twills. You can also sew a floaty pair of Keiras in viscose twill or viscose linen blends. You’ll also need a 20cm length of 1 inch elastic for the waist, a 9 inch zip, a trouser hook and bar, 4x 18mm buttons and interfacing for the waist.

Sizing & Fabric Requirements
The Keira Shorts are available in UK sizes 6-30.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.

What will I receive?
The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • printable pattern (in both tiled print-at-home and copyshop format) in all sizes
  • fully-illustrated printable instruction booklet
  • copyshop permission letter

The Keira Shorts pattern is either 22 A4 pages, 18 US letter pages, or 1 A0 copyshop page (sizes 6-20), or 24 A4 pages/US letter pages, or 2 A0 copyshop pages (size 18-30).

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper. Alternatively you can choose to have the copyshop files printed on large A0 paper, and posted to you at home. If you’re using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
