Sew a stylish hat with the Beret PDF sewing pattern!

Quick and easy to sew, the Beret is a great scrap-busting project. The pattern (sizes XS to XXL) fits in half a metre of fabric or less, so you’ll be able to squeeze it out of a scrap or two.

Choose between two styles: Version 1 features a narrow band, Version 2 is finished neatly with bias binding on the inside. Both versions are lined for comfort, warmth, and the chance to use up a beautiful fabric on the inside.

The Beret outer can be made in many different types of woven fabrics: use wool or corduroy for the winter months, needlecord or denim for midseason, or cotton for a stylish summer accessory. For the lining you can use lighter fabrics such as viscose, cotton lawn or a satin.

Fabric Suggestions

The Beret works in a range of different woven fabrics: use a cotton twill or denim for something more structured, a jumbo corduroy, cotton poplin or melton wool will be a little softer, or try a needlecord for a super soft Beret. For the lining we recommend something lighter, such as a viscose or cotton lawn.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
