The Bonnie Blouse is a feminine 1940's-inspired waisted blouse with a big dose of glamour. It features a concealed button-up front, optional vertical pleats down either side, a flat collar, bust darts and short sleeves with little turn-up cuffs. Cute!
It has a waistband which cinches in the waist, with a sweet un-buttoned opening at the front waist.
The Bonnie Dress version features a knee-length gathered skirt and easy-to-fit elasticated waist.
Both the blouse and dress can be made without the pleats if you fancy a quicker, less-involved make - or if you want to show off a bigger print!
We love to pair the Bonnie Blouse with high waisted-trousers such as the Nina Trousers, or a lovely skirt such as Lizzie or the Erin Skirt from our City Break eBook!
The dress version is perfect for all occasions. In a classic navy or black the Bonnie Dress is great for the office, whilst in a fun colour or print she's dressy enough for a wedding guest or party dress. For extra party vibes, swap the skirt for a Full Circle Skirt and you'll be twirling all night!
The Bonnie Blouse is an intermediate level sewing pattern. Although not hugely advanced in construction, it has some tricker steps such as the concealed button placket and pleats, which require some precision. If you are a confident beginner, you could try making the version without the pleated front as this is a little simpler.
