Turn Dorothy into a fully weather-proof jacket with the Add-On Hood. The great news is that if you’ve already made the jacket, there is no unstitching involved to add the hood, as we’ve made it detachable!

The Dorothy Hood is fully lined and includes a drawstring to keep you protected even in the strongest of winds! The Hood attaches to the Dorothy Jacket with simple press stud fastenings or buttons & buttonholes.

The Add-On includes the following pattern pieces, plus new instructions on how to sew the Hood and attach it to the Dorothy Jacket:

Use the same fabric as your Dorothy Jacket to make the outer hood and a cotton for the lining, it's the perfect opportunity to use up a scrap and add a splash of colour to your jacket!

Fabric Suggestions

The Dorothy Jacket and Add-On Hood are perfect for medium weight fabrics, such as cotton twill, cotton drill, twill crepe, gabardine, stretch denim and heavier linens. Try a waterproof fabric to make a great raincoat! For the Hood lining, you can use the same fabric as the outer hood, or use a cotton fabric in coordinating or contrast colours.

The Dorothy Jacket Add-On Hood pattern is either 10 A4/US letter pages or 1 A1 page (sizes 6-20), or 10 A4/US letter pages, or 1 A1 page (size 18-30).

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
