The Farley Shacket is the perfect combination between a shirt and a jacket and is a great transitional layering piece. The design is slightly oversized and features buttons down the front and on the cuffs, a classic collar with a half-moon collar stand, and a panelled body. Clever double-entry pockets are built into the front seams: keep your hands warm on the outside and your belongings safe on the inside.

Version one is hip-length and will work in most woven fabrics, from a classic shirting to needlecord and flannel, as well as heavier fabrics. Version two is cropped and will work best in a more structured denim or canvas to hold its shape.

The longer shacket will work thrown over any outfit and the cropped version is great as part of a co-ord set: make a matching pair of Rosemary Trousers (also in the Everyday Edit eBook) to create a head-to-toe look.

Fabric Suggestions

The Farley Shacket can be made in a range of fabrics that will alter the way it looks. Try a more structured fabric such as a canvas, heavier denim or corduroy for the shorter version 2. Or use the longer length of version 1 to show off a lighter chambray, needlecord or stretch cotton. You can even use a viscose or viscose twill for a warmer weather layering piece. You’ll also need some lining fabric for the pockets.

Huge thanks to our friends at Minerva who provided all the fabrics for our gorgeous samples and Pigeon Wishes who provided the beautiful buttons.

The Farley Shacket is available in UK sizes 6-30 and is split into two different blocks: sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the size charts below for details on fabric requirements.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm. Is this sewing pattern layered?

Yes! This pattern is layered so you can print off just the size(s) that you need. Find out more about layering here.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
