Type

The Giselle Dress is a semi-fitted but casual and contemporary midi sheath dress. It features a double darted bodice, T-shirt length sleeves, and a sweet round neckline. It’s shaped through the waist and hip with panels in the skirt, into which you can insert an optional cheeky split. It closes at the centre back with an invisible zip and keyhole opening, and the neckline is finished neatly with bias binding. Giselle has a mid-length hem, but of course you can hem it wherever you like to suit you.

Super versatile, it’s all in the fabric choice and styling with Giselle. Wear yours at the weekend, to work, for a fun evening out – she’ll even look the part at a special occasion! Keep it simple and striking in a solid fabric, choose a ditsy floral for a casual day look, or go all out with a big bold print. Giselle makes a great canvas to show off that special fabric.

The Giselle Dress is a Confident Beginner sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions

We recommend lightweight woven fabrics with drape for the Giselle Dress, such as viscose or tencel twill, viscose challis and lightweight crepes. A linen viscose blend could be lovely as well, as long as it is drapey. You can also use cottons with a good drape, such as seersucker or voile, though you may wish to line a dress sewn in voile, or wear a slip. We recommend avoiding crisper cottons such as poplin or lawn, as these don't have the required drape.

The Giselle Dress sewing pattern is available in UK sizes 6-30. The pattern is split into two different blocks, sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the size chart below for details on fabric requirements.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm. Never used a PDF pattern before and would like some help? Learn everything you need to know in our handy Guide to Assembling PDF Patterns over on our blog!

Is this sewing pattern layered?

Yes! This pattern is layered so you can print off just the size(s) that you need. Find out more about layering here.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
