Contemporary or vintage, make the Harriet Skirt your new wardrobe staple.

The Harriet Skirt is an easy-to-sew pattern with delicious design details to keep you interested. There’s lots to learn for a beginner, or it's a simple satisfying sew for more advanced sewists.

Harriet’s innovative welt pockets are the stars of the show. Sitting in the forward side seams they’re the perfect mix of design detail and practicality. Inspired by 1950’s skirt shapes, Harriet is an a-line skirt with a cinched in waist whilst the wrap style brings an element of the contemporary and makes for easy fitting. The fastenings are as easy as they come, Harriet is secured with a button on the skirt front, and a hook & bar internally.

Style Harriet to complement your existing wardrobe; lean into the vintage inspired shape and pair with the Lilian Blouse to channel your inner 1950’s icon, or opt for a simple Ultimate T-Shirt & trainers for an easy contemporary look. If you’re looking to dress it up then a bold fabric for a special evening co-ord would be the talk of the town.

Harriet was designed to be your staple spring & autumn skirt and is built for medium weight wovens. Soft corduroys, needlecord, canvases and twills are perfect, and medium weight cottons will also work well. You can experiment with lighter cottons or viscoses for a more floaty, less a-line shape. If you’re looking for a statement then the Harriet Skirt would look incredible in a brocade!

The Harriet Skirt pattern is aimed at Confident Beginners.

Fabric Suggestions

Huge thanks to our friends at Minerva who provided us with the two corduroys used in these samples.

We'd recommend medium weight wovens such as denim, chambray, needlecord, corduroy and softer canvases. You can also use viscose, viscose twill and suiting fabrics for a softer shape.

Pattern Sizes & Fabric Requirements

The Harriet Skirt is available in UK sizes 6-30 and is split into two different blocks: sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the size charts below for details on fabric requirements.

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
