Sew a gorgeous sundress with the Malorie Dress Sewing Pattern!

The Malorie Dress features a midi skirt with deep pleats at the front, gathers at the back and optional in-seam pockets. Shaping is created with unique darts in the front bodice, something a little bit different that technical sewists will love!

The wide, bra-covering straps are integrated into the lined front bodice to create a modern square neckline and they are secured at the back with decorative buttons.

You have two options for the back of the dress: choose Version 1 for an easy pull-on style with no closures thanks to a shirred back panel that makes for easy fitting and comfortable wearing.

If shirring really isn’t for you, choose Version 2 for a sleeker look finished with an invisible zip on the side.

The Malorie Dress can be as casual or as dressy as you want it to be depending on your fabric choice. If you want to show off the pleats, use something with a bit of structure like cotton, linen or viscose linen. A solid colour will really make this detail stand out! Opt for viscose or crepe to create a softer look.

Sewing Level

The Malorie Dress is a Confident Beginner woven dress sewing pattern.

Fabric Suggestions

Choose cotton poplin or cotton lawn for an easier sew and more structure, opt for viscose, viscose linen or crepe for a dress with more movement. A plain orgeometric pattern will do a great job of showing the interesting front bodice darts.

Huge thanks to Khia Fabrics for providing us with the gorgeous Tiles cotton fabric we used for Salma’s sample and the Tulips fabric for Zoë’s sample. And thanks to Sew Me Sunshine for the beautiful viscose linen we used for Alma’s sample.

Pattern Sizes & Fabric Requirements

The Malorie Dress is available in UK sizes 6-30 and is split into two different blocks: sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the size charts below for details on fabric requirements.

What will I receive?

The downloadable pattern file contains:

  • Printable PDF Pattern in sizes A4, US Letter & A0
  • Fully-illustrated printable instruction booklet

If you purchase the PDF Pattern + A0 Printing option, you will also receive your pattern printed on A0 paper in the post. Find out more about our A0 Printing Service here.

The Malorie Dress pattern is either 22 A4 pages, 24 US letter pages, or 1 A0 page (sizes 6-20), or 27 A4/US letter pages, or 2 A0 pages (size 18-30).

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm. Never used a PDF pattern before and would like some help? Learn everything you need to know in our free tutorial How to Assemble a PDF Pattern

Is this sewing pattern layered?

Yes! This pattern is layered so you can print off just the size(s) that you need. Find out more about layering here.

Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
