Sew the perfect layering piece with the Stevie Slipover!

Knitted vests are everywhere at the moment and we thought the sewing community needed its own version of this handy little garment: enter the Stevie Slipover sewing pattern.

Stevie is a sleeveless knit top finished with a neckband, armbands and a wide waistband. It's designed to overlap the waistline of your favourite high-waisted skirts and trousers, for comfortable coverage, and it's perfect to wear over your waisted dresses.

We've given you two options for the neckline and we reckon everyone needs to make one of each at least: Version one is a classic crew neck, great to pair with a pretty collar like the one on our Jacinta Blouse, or over a t-shirt for a more casual look. Version 2 has a neat V-neck, perfect to wear with a classic button-up like our Amy Shirt.

Stevie is quick to sew, it takes very little fabric (under 1.5m for all sizes) and it will unlock so many new outfits in your wardrobe!

Fabric Suggestions

The Stevie Slipover is perfect for knit fabrics like Ponte di Roma which has some structure, or other medium weight knitted fabrics. If you choose a fabric with less recovery, be aware that the fit may be looser, and you might want to size down. Be sure to pick something with good stretch and good recovery, as the Stevie Slipover has negative ease, meaning the finished garment measurements will be smaller than the body measurements.

The Stevie Slipover is available in UK sizes 6-30 and is split into two different blocks: sizes 6-20 (B cup) and sizes 18-30 (D cup). See the size charts below for details on fabric requirements.

The Stevie Slipover pattern is either 12 A4/US letter pages, or 1 A0 page (sizes 6-20), or 14 A4 pages, 18 US letter pages, or 1 A0 page (size 18-30).

What is a PDF pattern?

A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home on A4 or US letter paper.

Choose to add on A0 printing and we will print the pattern on our A0 printers and post it to you so all you need to access digitally is the instruction booklet.

If you're using the A4 or US letter options, simply download, print at home, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
